چکیده

MUSIC-based estimation of direction of arrival (DOA) using universal steering vector (USV) is experimentally studied. A fourelement array antenna and a four-channel receiver are employed for the experiment. In order to improve the accuracy of DOA estimation, USV which has already included the effect of mutual coupling between array elements and effect of array elements themselves is compensated to further include the electric delay and loss of four channels in the receiver. The compensated USV (C-USV) approach proposed in this paper does not need the time-consuming measurement of array element pattern because the compensating matrix for USV is obtained by measuring the S parameters between RF input ports of the feeding cables and IF output ports of the receiver. The experimental results of MUSIC-based DOA estimation show that C-USV approach is an accurate, effective and practical method for the MUSIC-based DOA estimation. key words: MUSIC, direction of arrival, array antenna, array element pattern, mutual coupling, steering vector, MoM

On Improvements of Cyclic MUSIC

Many man-made signals encountered in communications exhibit cyclostationarity. By exploiting cyclostationarity, cyclic MUSIC has been shown to be able to separate signals with different cycle frequencies, thus, to be able to perform signal selective direction of-arrival (DOA) estimation. However, as will be shown in this paper, the DOA estimation of cyclic MUSIC is actually biased. We show in t...

Spatial aliasing for efficient direction-of-arrival estimation based on steering vector reconstruction

A new technique is proposed to reduce the computational complexity of the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimate using a uniform linear array (ULA). The steering vector of the ULA is reconstructed as the Kronecker product of two other steering vectors, and a new cost function with spatial aliasing at hand is derived. Thanks to the estimation amb...

High Resolution DOA Estimation Using Phase Information Of MUSIC Spectrum

Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) estimation is one of fundamental but significant techniques for high-speed mobile communication to know wave propagation environment [1]. ”Superresolution” DOA estimation methods such as MUSIC [2], Root-MUSIC [3] and ESPRIT [4] methods are paid so much attention because of their brilliant properties in estimating DOAs of incident signals. Those methods achieve very hi...

Quad-Quaternion MUSIC for DOA Estimation Using Electromagnetic Vector Sensors

A new quad-quaternion model is herein established for an electromagnetic vector-sensor array, under which a multidimensional algebra-based direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm, termed as quad-quaternion MUSIC (QQ-MUSIC), is proposed. This method provides DOA estimation (decoupled from polarization) by exploiting the orthogonality of the newly defined “quadquaternion” signal and noise...

Implementation of the direction of arrival estimation algorithms by means of GPU-parallel processing in the Kuda environment (Research Article)

Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of audio signals is critical in different areas, including electronic war, sonar, etc. The beamforming methods like Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR), Delay-and-Sum (DAS), and subspace-based Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) are the most known DOA estimation techniques. The mentioned methods have high computational complexity. Hence using...
